The Family History Writers Group meets with the aim of providing encouragement and support to aspiring family historians wishing to produce a readable and entertaining record of their family’s history.
This month, meet Adelaide author & genealogist, Jennifer Mackenzie Dunbar, when she presents, ‘No one way, Writing your family history your way'. Jennifer has written three novels: Stolen (2025), Missing Pieces (Midnight Sun June 2023) and Vivaldi’s Lost Concert (2019). Her family history, A Family on the Move, was published in 2026.
Jennifer’s writing draws on her love of history, music and mythology as she explores the stories left untold in conventional historical accounts. Working as a social worker provided Jennifer with a rich source of material to develop her colourful and complex fictional characters and compelling plots. She lives and works on Kaurna land overlooking the Sturt Gorge and loves travelling to experience enchanting settings and uncover the unique stories found in her work.
