Transcripts and Lookups
Transcriptions and Lookups can be ordered through the online database search pages. Once you have located the record of your choice, place your order online. Results are sent via email and can take up to 2 weeks as our Transcription team operates on Mondays and Fridays only. FREE research for Distance Members*
Members who qualify for FREE research are entitled to 2 hours of free research each membership year in lieu of being able to visit the Genealogy SA library. Researchers employ all of the resources that are available from within the library including our extensive collection of family and local history books, registers and indexes, journals and pamphlets, as well as subscription services and databases. Please note this service does not include Transcriptions and Lookups.

Research Scope Report
This scoping service is provided to review your query and to provide you with a report outlining possible avenues for further research or those that can be eliminated based on evidence. Once you receive your report, you can decide if you would like to proceed further. This service is best suited for those looking to complete a family tree, deep dive into records pertaining to ancestors, those executing a will or tracing the history of a house. Our experienced researchers can take the pain out of locating records from government and non-government bodies including Lands Titles, Law Courts, State Records, Lutheran Archives, Anglican Archives, and Catholic Archives etc. Please complete the order form below.

^ As this type of research requires travel outside of the Genealogy SA library, orders will be pooled together for regular monthly visits and so it may take 3–4 weeks for you to receive your results. If you require priority service, a $33.00 travel expense will be added.

Extended Professional Genealogical Research
For assistance with items such as pedigree charts, execution of wills, one name studies, identifying photos or items, heraldry or life tracing for individuals we can provide research by the hour. Research can be conducted utilising resources both within and outside of South Australia. Family trees generated for the purpose of executing a will include certified copies of certificates.
Please note that results cannot be guaranteed.

Priority Service (Jump the queue)**
Where offered, priority service adds a surcharge to the base service so your request is prioritised over other work in the queue once payment is received in full.
