Biographies of Sappers and Miners who were the backbone of the Survey Office for two decades in South Australia, and their officer in charge, Captain Edward Charles Frome, set the ground rules for surveying in South Australia. One of his lasting legacies was his instruction that indigenous place names should be used where ever possible.
